abstract

The yellow-bellied sapsucker is a migratory woodpecker that feeds on a widevariety of orchard, shade, and forest trees. Instead of drilling holes to find insectslike other woodpeckers, sapsuckers drill holes in living trees to feed on sap andphloem tissues.
