Physical charateristics

They have olive-green upperparts, and the head and upper breast are also green. The rest of the underparts are ochre-coloured, there are no wing bars. The male is slightly larger than the female, but otherwise similar.

Range

It is found in Bolivia, Brazil, French Guiana, Guyana, Peru, Suriname, and Venezuela.

Habitat

Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and subtropical or tropical moist montanes. In Brazil this species is found only in Amazonia in terra firme rain forests. It is very similar to the Ochre-bellied Flycatcher, not only in appearance but also in behavior.

Reproduction

During the mating season, the males sing and display themselves to the females in groups (leks), though there is normally little contact or interaction among the participating birds. Nest is a leafy ball with a side entrance, suspended from a twig above small waters. Clutch size is 3 eggs, incubated for about 19 days. The young fledge 1-20 days after hatching of last egg.

Feeding habits

Forages for anthropods, also searches for small fruit in the understorey. Hunts up to 25 meter. Will join mixed-species flocks. Perches mostly hidden to catch prey with sallies.
